Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of leadership style and compensation on employee performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable on SMPN 21 Padang employees. The population in this study were all employees and staff who worked at SMPN 21 Padang, sampling using the slovin sampling technique method so that the sample taken was 58 people who worked at SMPN 21 Padang. The analysis method used in this research is Outer Model analysis, Avarage Variance Exteacted (AVE), Reability assessment and Inner Model (Structural Model) testing using SmartPLS 4.0. Data collection methods through observation and distributing questionnaires to employees and staff as respondents. The results showed that: 1. There is a positive and significant effect of leadership style on job satisfaction in SMPN 21 Padang employees. 2. There is a positive and significant effect of compensation on job satisfaction in employees of SMPN 21 Padang. 3. There is a positive and significant effect of leadership style on employee performance in SMPN 21 Padang employees. 4. There is a positive and significant effect of compensation on employee performance at SMPN 21 Padang employees. 5. There is a positive and insignificant effect of job satisfaction on employee performance at SMPN 21 Padang employees. 6.Leadership style has a positive and insignificant effect on employee performance through job satisfaction on SMPN 21 Padang employees, which means job satisfaction cannot mediate. 7.Compensation has a positive and insignificant effect on employee performance through job satisfaction in SMPN 21 Padang employees, which means job satisfaction cannot mediate
