Employee work discipline is a global problem in an organization. The problem in this study is based on the continued discovery of employee work discipline violations, such as lateness and absenteeism, which are suspected to be influenced by the work environment, the level of organizational commitment, and the compensation system implemented. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Work Environment and Organizational Commitment on Work Discipline with Compensation as an intervening variable on employees of the Payakumbuh City Transportation Agency. The study uses a quantitative approach with the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The data collection technique is through distributing questionnaires to 44 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using SmartPLS software to test the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results showed that the work environment had a positive and significant effect on compensation, and organizational commitment had a positive and significant effect on compensation. In addition, the work environment and organizational commitment also had a positive and significant effect on work discipline. However, compensation did not have a significant effect on work discipline. Furthermore, the test results showed that compensation was unable to mediate the influence of the work environment and organizational commitment on work discipline. Therefore, it is recommended that agencies continue to improve the quality of the work environment, both in terms of physical aspects such as facilities, comfort, and job security, as well as non-physical aspects such as work relationships and communication between employees.
